  • What is the difference between therapy and psychiatry?
Therapists are supportive listeners who will work with you to understand your personal and interpersonal challenges, to help devise a plan with you for your better wellbeing. They do not prescribe medication. I am a therapist. Psychiatrists and nurse practitioners are medical specialist who uses medication to treat mental health conditions. Typically, psychiatrists do not offer talk counseling but work with therapist to provide comprehensive care. I am not a psychiatrist.

  • Is online therapy suitable for me?
The benefit to online video therapy is that no one has to leave home, but we can see and hear each other in real time. It is, of course, different because we will not be sitting in the same room. However most therapists (with research to back up) have affirmed deep emotional work can be done in this format. Confidentiality still applies for online therapy services. I will be using Zoom Video Conferencing, following the HIPAA security rules and technical insurance so your privacy is protected. You will need to find a quiet private space for our meetings, and I will ask that you set things up so you will not be interrupted or overhead. Acknowledging that each person is an unique individual who is facing a personal challenge, therefore when you reach out to me, I will do an intake assessment to let you know what is the best approach of therapy for you. If all these sounds comfortable for you, we are good to connect through WhatsApp or email.

Online therapy is as effective as traditional therapy for the treatment of the most emotional and behavioral science issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, couple or marital issues and more. Acknowledging that each client is an unique individual, who are facing personal challenges.
